Meet our Teaching Director, Nominated Supervisor & Educational Leader

Melissa Murphy

I joined the lovely Bexley Jack and Jill preschool community in April 2022, after the retirement of Anne Turner who had been the Director for 6 years. I have been working as a Director, Early Childhood Teacher, Manager of Early Childhood Services, Play Group Manager, Professional Development Facilitator and University and TAFE Tutor and Lecturer since 1997.  I’ve worked the majority of my career in not-for-profit preschools and organisations.

Embedded in my day to day work is my growing passion and expertise for creating inclusive and responsive learning programs and work environments that cater for diverse learning abilities, values and cultures. I consistently advocate for strength based and family centred practice, enabling strong parent and community partnerships, supporting family’s and children’s voices and agency while learning through play and enjoying this precious time for children in their early years”.

What parents and families say about Jack and Jill Preschool…..

The educators at Jack and Jill do a fantastic job of caring for our children while they are at preschool but they are also a wonderful support and encouragement to us as parents as well.

They are always ready to listen to us if we have and issues, concerns or questions about our boys and they have been an invaluable source of information and knowledge on how we can best help our children grow, learn and develop.

We have been so impressed by the amazing relationships that the educators have formed with our sons. All staff have taken the time to really get to know our boys.
They know their likes and dislikes, what excites them and scares them, they know about their family and friends and are always genuinely interested in what they have been up to on their days that they are not at preschool. Our sons feel so valued and safe because of their close relationships with their educators.

Sending your child off to preschool for the first time can be very daunting. But we can honestly say that we don’t worry when our kids are at Jack and Jill as we know that they are safe, that they are being cared for by exceptional staff who genuinely love and care for all the children there and that they are having an amazing time as they learn through playing.
